Welcome Back, The Active Edge
Like old friends reunited, we pick up right where we left off.
Hey there,
Guess who’s back? Like a well-rested human performance expert after a year-long power nap, our newsletter, The Active Edge, is finally refreshed and ready to help you perform at your best. Did you miss us as much as we missed you? We know you did.
Yes, by popular demand we are back and ready to grace your inboxes with our personality quirks, risque anecdotes, and of course, plenty of performance insights. It has been just over a year since our last newsletter was sent out, after nearly three years of regular writing. A bit like an athlete in an Olympic cycle, we put in a consistent effort, smart thinking, and leaned on our support network - but we didn’t make the Games. We needed to listen to each other and take some rest, reevaluate our goals, and improve our resilience. But now we are back. We’re back with more.
Firstly, as we reintroduce ourselves to you, we should remind you of the mission of this newsletter.
In this knowledge era we find ourselves within, communicating effectively through writing has never been more important. The Active Edge sees knowledge transfer through writing as an essential part of self-discovery. By writing about and discussing insights into performance, we can all continue to develop into the performers we aspire to be.
The Active Edge is a platform for understanding and facilitating human performance. If you’re interested in reading about how to sustain healthy performance and reach your highs, we will muse over training concepts, psychological tools, environmental cues, and community benefits.
Quite succinct, if I do say so myself.
And that is why we are back.
“But what more are you back with?” I hear you ask…
Shane and I believe we did a pretty good job writing these in the past - offering opinion and expertise on performance expectations and reality, keeping you the centre of your training, recovery modalities and more. Moving forward, your eyes (and soon to be, ears) will also have two new perspectives to hear from - Yasmin, our dedicated Sports Rehabilitation Therapist, and our newest team member, Nicole.
Nicole joined in August and is a Chartered Sport and Exercise Psychologist. Feel free to talk to her and find out more about what she can offer you by booking your free 30-minute initial conversation here. She is also offering 25% off follow up appointments until the end of December 2024. Great offer, take it!
So, whilst you might have realised there aren’t too many performance insights from this particular edition, our advice today…roll back the years to times when you received the Sunday TV Guide, whacked out your highlighter pen and circled the programs you wanted to watch that week… and schedule in The Active Edge Newsletter to read every Monday evening.
Here is the line up coming your way over the next four weeks:
Ronny’s retort on “Performance Environments: Support Your Performance” (2nd Sept)
Shane’s soliloquy on “Performance Drivers: The Data I See In The Context of Me” - (9th Sept)
Nicole’s narrative on “Arousal: There Is Such Thing As Too Much” (16th Sept)
Yasmin’s yearnings on “Training Load: Balance For Optimal Gains” - (23rd Sept)
We do this because we love knowledge sharing and we truly believe that more people can benefit from applying these messages to their own contexts. Healthy performance centres around you, and we’d like to join you in your development.
I’ll see you next week,
Ron - Performance Coach
